What’s Proposed to Change in 2026
The proposed updates expand reimbursable RPM services and reduce barriers:
- 2–15 days of readings now count toward reimbursement (in addition to the current code for 16+ days)
- 10 minutes of clinician review time (in addition to the current 20 minutes) qualifies for billing
- More flexibility to align reimbursement opportunities with your care delivery approach and patient care plans

RPM Reimbursement 101
RPM allows providers to monitor patient data remotely — including blood pressure, glucose, weight, and oxygen levels — using FDA-cleared devices that automatically transmit patient data.
Current CPT codes:
- 99453: Initial setup and patient education
- 99454: 16+ days of device use and data transmission every 30 days
- 99457: First 20 minutes of clinical review and management
- 99458: Each additional 20 minutes of clinical review and management
Currently, providers must capture 16+ days of readings in a 30-day period to qualify for reimbursement. Similarly, providers must complete 20 minutes of review time for reimbursement. Under the 2026 proposal, both requirements are eased — allowing reimbursement for as few as 2–15 days of readings and just 10 minutes of review.
